Pancake day special: The CFC
Dear pancake friends
It always surprises people to hear that about 70% of our guests choose our Savoury Pancakes. So this year’s Pancake Day we’re putting the spotlight on our protein-packed, nutritious, hearty pancake meals, specifically with our Pancake Day Special “Cornflake Fried Chicken”.
As deep-fryers are not part of our kitchen furniture, the perfect fried chicken & pancakes dish remained elusive until we started messing about with cornflakes. The recipe is bafflingly easy: Swaledales’ (our Yorkshire Dales butchers) Halal chicken thighs are marinated overnight in buttermilk plus a whole lot of seasoning, then crunched into ample cornflakes and a hot oven does the rest. It’s the juiciest and most crunchy “fried” chicken you’ll ever eat. We serve it two ways. For a brunch-worthy bite, opt for the CFC with smashed avocado, our signature hollandaise and house pickles. If you’re craving for bolder flavours, the all-day variation brings health and heat with fresh kimchi, a spicy sriracha dip, and corn on the cob. Both are served with rocket salad, buttermilk pancakes and a rich-yolk fried egg from our Pancake Day partners St Ewe, our awesome egg suppliers from Cornwall.
To sound the trumpet for the greatest day of them all, the first 25 customers at each of our restaurants (Battersea Power Station, Fitzrovia, and London Bridge) — will receive a free pancake dish on Tuesday, 4th March. We open at 7AM, so set your alarms—once they’re gone, they’re gone!
Of course, Pancake Day wouldn’t be complete without your other all-time favourites: the Canadian (formerly known as the American) with bacon, blueberries & authentic Canadian maple syrup; classic Simple pancakes with lemon & sugar; the Recovery, the ultimate nutty-fuelled energizing stack.
