Visiting us
Do I need to book, or can I walk in?
You can always walk in — we keep roughly half our tables free for walk-ins at both Borough and Battersea. Weekends can get busy, especially mid-morning, so booking ahead is worth it if you have a specific time in mind. During the week, you’re usually fine to just turn up.

What if I’m running late for my booking?
We’ll hold your table for 10 minutes. If you think you’re going to be later than that, please give us a call and we’ll do everything we can to accommodate you. We’d rather keep your table than give it away.
Are you dog-friendly?
Yes — dogs are welcome at both Borough and Battersea. We love them. Just be mindful of the space at busy times, and please keep them calm around other guests.
At Battersea Power Station there are also great riverside walks nearby for a post-pancake stroll. Borough is close to the Thames riverside path too.
Is it baby and buggy friendly?
Absolutely — we’re a proper all-day family café and have high chairs at both locations. Space for buggies is limited, particularly at Borough, so we’ll do our best on a first come, first served basis. If you’re bringing a pram, it’s worth calling ahead so we can try to reserve you a spot with a bit more room.
Do you have outdoor seating?
Borough has outdoor seating along the pedestrianised street in front of the arch — it’s a lovely spot when the weather is good. Battersea Power Station is indoors, but the Power Station itself has a great public courtyard and riverside walk immediately outside.
Are your cafés accessible?
Battersea Power Station is fully step-free and accessible by wheelchair. Borough is in a railway arch on a pedestrianised street — the entrance is step-free, but the arch itself is a fairly compact space. If you have specific accessibility needs, please email us before visiting and we’ll do our best to help.
Do you accept cash?
We are a cashless restaurant — card and contactless payments only. We accept all major cards and digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay).
Food & dietary
Do you have vegan and gluten-free options?
Yes — and we’re genuinely proud of them. Our 3-in-1 batter is dairy-free, vegan and without gluten, made with organic rice and buckwheat flour, soy milk and chickpea water. It’s available across most of the menu, so there’s plenty to choose from whether you’re vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free or all three.
Most dishes are marked on the menu with ve (vegan), v (vegetarian), wg (without gluten) and df (dairy free). Vegan option available (voa) means there’s a vegan version — just ask.
What is your allergen policy?
We use common allergens in our restaurant — including nuts, gluten, dairy and egg — and cannot guarantee the absence of allergens in any of our dishes. The risk of cross-contamination is high due to the nature of our menu, and we would not advise those with a severe allergy to any of these to dine with us.
If you have a mild intolerance or preference (rather than a severe allergy), please mention it when you order and our team will do their best to help.
What is the 3-in-1 batter?
Our 3-in-1 batter is our alternative to the classic buttermilk batter — it’s dairy-free, vegan and without gluten, so three dietary needs covered in one. We make it with organic rice and buckwheat flour, soy milk and chickpea water. It’s available on most of our savoury and sweet pancake dishes, and costs an extra £1 to substitute.
What is a Dutch Baby?
A Dutch Baby is a cross between a Yorkshire pudding and a centuries-old German oven-baked pancake. We make ours in a cast-iron skillet and serve it straight from the oven, puffed up and golden. We offer two versions — Goat’s Cheese & Hot Honey (savoury) and Apple Pie (sweet).
What makes your batter special?
Our buttermilk batter is made fresh every morning and steeped for 8 hours before we cook with it. It’s low in sugar and made with a blend of regenerative organic flours from Shipton Mill in Somerset, combined with high-welfare eggs from Bex Tonks at St Ewe in Cornwall. Fluffy, fermented, and worth the slight wait.
Is your food halal or kosher?
Our meats are not certified halal or kosher. We work with specific suppliers (Swaledale Butchers for our meats) on the basis of welfare and provenance rather than religious certification. If you have specific dietary requirements, please get in touch before visiting and we’ll be as helpful as we can.
Is there a service charge?
A discretionary 12.5% service charge will be added to your bill. 100% of it goes directly to our teams. All prices are inclusive of VAT.
